Women's carpooling in Karachi, matched with other women
Many women in Karachi already share rides with colleagues and classmates they trust. Chalo Bhai is building a women-only matching option to help you find more of them on your own route.
What we are building for women who carpool
These features are planned for the first version of the app. They are not live yet.
Women-only matching
Switch it on and you are matched only with other women, whether you are offering seats or looking for one. Leave it off and you see every match on your route.
Contact only after you both accept
Your phone number is never listed. It is shared on WhatsApp only when you and the other person have both said yes to the match.
Verified profiles
Every profile will have a WhatsApp-verified number. A work or university email badge shows that someone belongs to the office or campus they say they do.
Ratings from carpool partners
After sharing rides, partners rate each other. Over time you can see how other women found commuting with someone before you accept.
What these tools do, and what they don't
Verification, ratings and mutual acceptance give you more information before you decide to share a ride. They do not replace your own judgement, and we will not claim that an app can make any journey risk-free.
The decision always stays with you. You can decline any match without giving a reason, and you can end a carpool arrangement whenever it stops suiting you.
Sensible steps for a first carpool
- Talk on WhatsApp first and agree timing, pickup point and fuel share.
- Meet at a familiar public spot on the main road for the first ride.
- Tell someone at home who you are riding with and which route you take.
- Try the arrangement for a week before settling into it.
For office and university commutes
A women's carpool works the same way as any other on Chalo Bhai. A woman who drives to work posts her route, days and time window. A woman who needs a ride posts her pickup, drop and timing. When route and timing fit, both are shown the match.
It suits office staff with fixed hours, teachers, hospital staff and university students, including those currently relying on a pick and drop van. The petrol cost is shared between everyone in the car, and the petrol cost calculator gives a starting figure.
Whether you would drive or ride, see the pages for drivers and riders.
Questions about women's carpooling
Is there a women-only option?
Yes, it is planned from the first version. Women will be able to switch on women-only matching so that they are matched only with other women, whether they drive or ride. You can register your interest with the checkbox on the waitlist form.
Is it safe?
No app can promise that, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we are building is a set of tools that help you decide who to ride with: a WhatsApp-verified phone number on every profile, an optional work or university email badge, contact details shared only after both people accept a match, ratings between carpool partners, and a women-only matching option. You always choose whether to accept a match, and we suggest meeting in a public place before your first ride.
Do I have to state my gender to join the waitlist?
No. The waitlist form does not ask for gender. There is an optional checkbox to say you are interested in women-only matching, which tells us how much demand there is on each route.
Is this a girls' pick and drop van service?
No. Chalo Bhai does not operate vans or employ drivers. It matches women who already drive a daily route with women who need a ride on the same route, so they can share the petrol cost.
