Chalo Bhai

Your car is going to the office anyway. Share the ride.

You drive the same Karachi route every working day, usually with empty seats. Chalo Bhai will match you with people on that route so you can share the ride and split the fuel, at around Rs 390 a litre.

Fuel sharing in Karachi, not a side job

Carpooling through Chalo Bhai is not driving for a ride-hailing company. You are not working shifts, accepting trip requests or going anywhere you were not already going. You drive your normal commute, and the people in your car contribute to the petrol.

The point is to bring your own cost down, not to earn a profit. A fair split is the petrol for the shared trip divided between everyone in the car, you included. You and your riders agree the amount and how often it is paid. Chalo Bhai takes no commission and does not handle the money.

Because the same people ride with you each day, there is no daily negotiating. You agree once and review it when petrol prices move.

Your car, your terms

  • You choose who rides with you

You see each rider's profile and verifications before deciding. Nobody gets your number unless you accept the match.

  • You choose the days

Offer seats five days a week or only on Tuesdays. If you don't take the car on a given day, you don't offer seats that day.

  • You set the pickup radius

Decide how far off your route you are willing to go. Keep it to the main road, or allow a short detour into a block.

  • You set the time window

Give the window in which you leave, such as 8:00 to 8:20. You are only matched with riders who can be ready inside it.

Who you would be sharing with

Riders on Chalo Bhai are commuters like you: office staff and university students who travel your route at your hour. Each profile will carry a WhatsApp-verified number, and people can add a work or university email badge. After you have shared rides, you rate each other.

Women who drive can switch on women-only matching and offer seats only to other women. Read more about women's carpooling in Karachi.

Questions drivers ask

How do drivers and riders split the cost?

Riders contribute to the fuel for the shared part of the route. The driver and riders agree the amount between themselves before they start, usually as a weekly or monthly contribution. The idea is to share petrol ka kharcha, not to make a profit. Our petrol cost calculator gives both sides a fair starting number for their route.

Is this a taxi or ride-hailing service?

No. Chalo Bhai is not a taxi, a ride-hailing app or a van service. It connects commuters who already travel the same route so they can share the petrol cost of a trip the driver is making anyway. Drivers are not earning a fare and nobody is being dispatched to pick you up on demand. Agar aap ko daily pick and drop chahiye, this is a carpool with someone going your way, not a hired car.

Do I need to drive or ride every day?

No. You choose the days. A driver might offer seats Monday to Thursday only, and a rider might need a seat three days a week. Matching takes your days into account, so you are only paired with people whose schedule overlaps with yours.

Can I drive some days and ride on others?

Yes. One account will cover both. Many households share a car, and plenty of people would rather not drive every single day. You will be able to offer seats on the days you have the car and look for a seat on the days you don't.
